School Starts Wednesday At Summerville High

Tuolumne, Ca — Students at Summerville High will head back to class on Wednesday, and Superintendent of Schools Dr. John Keiter says enrollment is right on par with last year.

?Currently we have enrolled 684 students at the High School and the Academy,? says Keiter. ?That´s a good thing.?

Summerville High will be the first school in Tuolumne County to start the 2008-09 school year.

Sonora High, Big Oak Flat-Groveland Unified, Belleview Elementary, Summerville Elementary, Chinese Camp, Columbia, Curtis Creek, Jamestown, Sonora El, and Soulsbyville will not begin classes until Aug. 20.

Meanwhile in Calaveras County, many schools began on July 28. They include Calaveras High, Gold Strike High, Jenny Lind Alternative, West Point Alternative, Toyon Middle School, Jenny Lind Elementary, Mokelumne Hill Elementary, Railroad Flat Elementary, San Andreas Elementary, Valley Springs Elementary, West Point Elementary, Calaveras River Academy, Angels Creek Community Day School and Oakendell Community School.

Classes will not begin until August 20 for Bret Harte High, Vallecito High, Mark Twain Elementary, Copperopolis Elementary, Albert Michelson Elementary, Hazel Fischer Elementary, Avery Middle School and Mountain Oaks Charter School.
