Large Marijuana Gardens Eradicated Near Mocassin Creek

Sponsored by:

Groveland, Ca — Nearly 15,000 marijuana plants were destroyed in the Mocassin Creek area off Hwy 49 in South Tuolumne County on Thursday.

The Tuolumne Narcotics Team was assisted by members of the Department of Justice Camp Team and agents from the Bureau of Land Management in eradicating the two separate gardens located in the area.

When detectives were arriving at the gardens, a suspect was seen fleeing but was not captured. He is described by the Sheriff´s Office as a Hispanic male.

There was a large amount of trash left by the growers, and it also appears that a buck was killed near the garden while the growers were managing the site.

The marijuana has a street value of approximately $2,000 per plant.

A total of 14,929 marijuana plants were eradicated.
