High Speed Pursuit Ends In Citizen Assisted Arrest

San Andreas, CA — Following a high speed chase that originated at the Mar Val Taco Bell this morning, 20 year old Michael Sauve of Lodi was captured and scheduled to be booked into the Calaveras County Jail.

A Sheriff´s deputy attempted to stop Sauve´s vehicle for an equipment violation but the suspect quickly accelerated his vehicle at 10am. The deputy pursued the 1997 Chevrolet westbound on Hwy 26 where Sauve collided headon with a vehicle driven by a 69 year old unidentified female from Valley Springs. Sauve then fled his vehicle leaving a 25 year old unidentified female trapped in the car. He was subsequently arrested by deputies following an assist from Gold Creek Estates residents.

The Valley Springs resident was lifeflighted to Doctors Hospital in Modesto with non-life threatining injuries. Sauve´s passenger was also flown to Doctors Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect was transported to Mark Twain-St. Joseph´s Hospital with minor injuries. He was scheduled to be booked on charges of a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, felony hit-and-run and resisting arrest.

Following his arrest deputies discovered that Sauve had an out-of-county warrant for his arrest for vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, possession of methamphetamine, driving-under-the influence and driving on a suspended license.

Hwy 26 was shut down for a short period of time. The CHP is assisting in the investigation.
