Murphys, Ca — Development, wine and adventure were the principal topics at the Murphys Community Club Town Hall Meeting Tuesday evening at the Native Daughters Hall on Main St.

Board Member Joanna Reagan says the primary purpose was for people to get together and hear about new happenings in Murphys straight from leaders in the community.

Guests included longtime Calaveras County winemaker Chuck Hovey, who spoke on the growth of the wine industry over the past 20 years. Hovey noted that the wine community has become much more sophisticated, and he expects the trend to grow into the future.

Developer Jack Kautz took questions about the 46 home Murphys Oaks project that will be developed along the Westside of Bret Harte Drive. He also talked about the construction work at the Highway 4 and Big Trees Rd. intersection that has been going on for quite some time.

Sierra Nevada Adventure Company owner Shawn Seale spoke about recently opening a new store on Main Street in Murphys.

Tuesday´s gathering was the second Town Hall Meeting of the year for the Murphys Community Club.
