North Mountain Fire Continues To Grow

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — According to Stanislaus National Forest Dispatch Manager Bill Barrios the North Mountain Fire in the Groveland Ranger District approximately 10 miles northeast of Buck Meadows in the south county area is now between 300-500 acres.

Barrios adds that the fire is in a basically uninhabited area with no potential damage to any major structures. Sunday the fire was burning in the opposite direction of Camp Tuonga.

A Type Two Incident Command Team is being called in today to manage the lightning caused fire.

Currently six 20 person hand crews and two helicopters are on scene. Four air tankers have been ordered.

Smoke from this fire has reportedly been seen as far away as Modesto.
