Mountain Springs Community Hearing Opens At 49’er Church

Columbia, CA — Promptly at 1:30 this afternoon the Mountain Springs Community Hearing before the Board of Supervisors opened in the Faith Hall at the 49´er Church.

Developer Ron Kopf led the parade of speakers detailing the project that calls for 897 homes. He was followed by a review of the Environmental Impact Report.

A number agencies then voiced perspectives including the Sheriff´s Office (Sheriff Jim Mele), fire protection (Assistant County Fire Warden Julie Henriques) and T.U.D. (General Manager Pete Kampa and District Engineer Tom Scesa).

Then it was time for proponents of the project to stand before the microphone. That group included but was not limited to Lime Kiln Rd. resident Charles Jett, Joseph Wright, Sonora Mayor Hank Russell, Ron Woodall, Mike Jones and Scot Patterson of California Gold Development Corporation, TuCare President Mike Albrecht and Chamber of Commerce President Jim Costello.

This evening in the seven o´clock session proponents will continue with their comments. When they have finished those who are opposed to the project will have their “say.” Tonight´s meeting will conclude at ten o´clock.

Only one session is scheduled for Tuesday and that will start at 1:30pm comcluding at 5pm.
