Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — In addition to handling fingerprinting, handicapped parking enforcement, data record keeping support, applications for concealed weapon permits and the Neighborhood Watch Program, the Community Service Unit (CSU) of the Tuolumne County Sheriff´s Office will be taking on new duties in the very near future.

Lt. Dan Bressler says the CSU will be handling all the scam and elder abuse calls on a one-on-one basis with the victimized citizens. The Unit has built six new computers and is establishing a database to track and record the calls the Sheriff´s Office receives relating to scams and elder abuse.

Stated Sheriff Jim Mele, “We couldn´t do it without them” is an oft-overused cliche. “However in the case of this CSU and in the name of public safely services in this county, we at the Sheriff´s Office certainly couldn´t do it without them.”

Formed in 1992, the CSU has accumulated more than 250,000 volunteer hours of service to the community.
