Black Hawk Helos To Help Fight North Mountain Fire

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — National Guard Black Hawk helicopters are scheduled to be used in the fight to extinguish the 2,697 acre North Mountain Fire.

The Black Hawk helos will arrive at the Columbia Air Base this afternoon and then be used for water drops at the northeastern portion of the 35 percent contained fire which has spread into a remote area of Yosemite National Park.

Stanislaus National Forest officials are urging the public to make use of the Cottonwood Rd. out of Tuolumne to gain access to the Cherry Lake Recreation Area over the Fourth of July weekend. Cherry Oil Rd. off Hwy 120 will be used exclusively for fire personnel/equipment access to the fire.
