Cogdill Highlights Water Bill At Senate Committee Meeting

Sponsored by:

Sacramento, CA — Senator Dave Cogdill highlighted his, “Safe, Clean, Reliable Drinking Water Supply Act of 2010” during a hearing of the Senate Natural Resources Committee in Sacramento.

“I don’t think there is anything more important to this state (water reform),” said Cogdill. “I’m just hopeful that we are close to a resolution here that we can all continue to work on over the next few days and hopefully do something very positive for the future of this state and its water needs.”

Cogdill’s $9.4 billion bond proposal includes setting aside $3 billion to build new facilities and expand existing sites. $2 billion would be used to preserve the Delta and its ecosystems, $1.9 for regional water supply, conveyance and drought relief projects, and $500,000 for groundwater cleanup in economically distressed areas.

The Senate Committee meeting was held Wednesday. Cogdill hopes that there will be a water vote in the coming days.
