Memorial Day Program Set For Courthouse Park
Sonora, CA — Operation MOM will be in Courthouse Park Friday afternoon hosting a Memorial Day program to honor fallen heroes from past wars to present day.
Operation MOM spokesperson Pat Padavana and fallen soldier Bobby Rapp’s mother, Jennifer were Friday’s KVML "Newsmakers of the Day".
An Honor Scroll that will be sent to troops overseas will be available to sign beginning at 11am. A ceremony will begin at 12:30pm with an opening by Deacon Isaac Dominick. Padavana will speak about Operation MOM, Frank Matranga of the VFW Post 3154 will talk on behalf of Veterans, and Rapp will speak on the meaning of Memorial Day.
The event will conclude with the Sonora High and Sonora Elementary bands playing patriotic songs.
The "Newsmaker of the Day" is heard each weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am.
