Vandals Hit Downtown Sonora

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Sonora Police are asking for the public’s help to catch some graffiti taggers.

Sgt. Tim Wertz reports that armed with a spray paint can, vandals hit several buildings and a car in the downtown area late Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning. He also confirms that the words written are considered to be gang graffiti.

Pictures of the damage can be viewed in the image box.  The photos show a wavy red line streamed along the side of a parked car at 61 South Washington Street.  A couple of blocks down, the vandals sprayed the back wall of the Candy Vault store at the corner of Bradford and South Green streets. Outside the Sonora Tap Room located at 1 East Linoberg Street, two blackboards with chalk left for visitors to write comments under the headings, “The Best Thing About Sonora Is…” and “I’m Grateful For…,” had graffiti across them.

Sonora Police are investigating the crime and ask that anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in these areas or saw the vandals at work or may have information on the culprits contact dispatch at 209-532-8141.
