Update: Vegetation Fire Behind Elementary School In Calaveras County
Update at 5:40 p.m.: Firefighters have contained at around four acres. Crews will remain on the scene mopping up for the next couple of hours.
Update at 5:15 p.m.: CAL Fire has named this grass blaze the “Hagen Fire.”
CAL Fire spokesperson Emily Kilgore reports that the fire’s forward progress has been stopped at 4 acres. The flames broke out behind the Jenny Lind Elementary School along Highway 26 near Hagen Court in the Jenny Lind area. She adds that crews continue to work for containment and that what sparked the blaze is under investigation.
Original post at 4:45 p.m.: Jenny Lind, CA —Â Ground crews are battling a vegetation fire in the Jenny Lind area of Calaveras County.
CAL Fire spokesperson Emily Kilgore reports it is 3 to 5 acres in size. The flames are burning in grass along Highway 26 and Hagen Court, behind the Jenny Lind Elementary School. Further details will be released as soon as they come into the newsroom.
