File Early If You Want An Immediate Return

Sonora, CA — According to Sonora accountant Sam Wheeler you should e-file your California state tax return no later than Monday or Tuesday of next week if you stand any chance of getting an immediate refund.
Wheeler suggests that you accumulate your tax information immediately even though by law W-2 forms and charitable donation receipts do not have to mailed to taxpayers until January 31.
The final checks from Sacramento will be mailed Friday, January 30. By the first of February California will literally be out of cash.
Wheeler says at that time refund delays will be a minimum of 30 days and they may be even longer if the budget stalemate is not settled.
