Craigslist Posting Leads To Arrest
San Andreas, CA– A man who made a posting on the website Craigslist was arrested yesterday, according to the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office.
The listing on November 22nd, was titled “Want to Ambush a Calaveras Deputy?” The post was seen in the Rants and Raves section of Craigslist’s Stockton area section. A concerned citizen notified the Sheriff’s Department by email regarding the post. Detectives contacted Craigslist who soon had the listing removed.
Detectives identified James Andrew Hearne of New York as the person responsible for the post. Although Hearne lives out of state, he did have a prior arrest record in Calaveras County. Detectives contacted the FBI to assist with the case and yesterday they arrested Hearne for criminal possession of a firearm. According to the FBI, Hearne also admitted to the Craigslist posting.
The case is still under investigation to determine if further charges will be filed in Calaveras County.
