Black Oak School Campus Vandalized

Sponsored by:

Twain Harte, CA– The campus of Black Oak School in Twain Harte was the victim of vandals over the recent holiday weekend.

According to Twain Harte School Superintendent John Keiter, the damage to the field was due to joyriders driving recklessly in the snow on curbs and plants and onto the playground area. There was also damage to the ball field, grass and sprinkler system.

“They ran into our backflow preventer and broke it off underground,” said Keiter. “I just got the bill and it’s going to cost $2,650 in order to restore the water supply that feeds our food service program. We had to shut down our Headstart program and move to another location.”

Although there are currently no suspects, Keiter is hoping someone may have seen the vandals and will notify the authorities. Ketier believes there are probably some vehicles in the area that have sufferered body damage.

Because Black Oak school has had trouble with vandals in the past, Keiter said he’s even thinking of installing surveillance cameras to act as a deterrent or even possibly catch future intruders.
