Traffic Stop With K9 Assist Uncovers Meth-Filled Purse
Sonora, CA — A swerving SUV pulling a trailer with expired tags triggered a drug dealing arrest, officials report.
According to Tuolumne County Sheriff’s spokesperson Sgt. Andrea Benson, a deputy recently pulled over a Subaru SUV towing a trailer on Chicken Ranch Road in Jamestown during the evening hours.
The driver adruptly stopped in the traffic lane, blocking the roadway. The deputy when spoke with the four occupants inside and called in a records check that showed the driver with an expired license.
K9 Maverick alerted to the presence of a controlled substance in the vehicle, triggering a vehicle search, which turned up five individually packaged baggies of methamphetamine inside a purse belonging to 49-year-old Maria Ferreira of Jamestown.
She was arrested and booked into the Tuolumne County Jail for possession of a controlled substance for sale and assigned a $15,000 bond.
