School Bus Safety

Sponsored by:

The CHP has noticed that drivers either do not know the rules regarding school buses or are simply ignoring the law. School buses will be on the road again in 2011.

CHP Officer and Spokesperson Mike Remmel was Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

Remmel said, “The newer buses now have yellow lights and red lights. When you see the yellow lights, it is a warning that the red lights will be coming on. It works similar to a regular traffic light.”

Motorists must stop both ways when any school bus has its red lights on.

Remmel also reminds residents that they are invited to stop by the CHP office in Jamestown and have their child safety seat looked at. This is a courtesy and citations will not be issued if the seat is not properly installed. Simply call the CHP office ahead of time and schedule an appointment.

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard each weekday morning at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47 on AM-1450 KVML.
