Mountain Lion Sightings

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — The Sonora Police Department has received two reports of mountain lion sightings over the past 24 hours.

Police Chief Mark Stinson says the sightings have been on Morningstar Drive and Summit Avenue. It is believed that it is the same lion, and is described as being 120-140 lbs. The Police Department is urging residents to keep an eye on children and pets. Mountain lions sometimes become aggressive towards humans, but there have been no reports of this particular animal showing signs of aggression.

Stinson says mountain lions typically travel great distances and are normally in an area for only a couple of weeks before moving to the next location.
