Suspect Charged With Kidnapping

Sonora, CA – The Sonora Police Department has charged a man with kidnapping following an altercation with his wife.
24-year-old Jiawei Hu had reportedly gotten into an argument with his wife, 25-year-old Zhou Ping, in the parking lot of the Sonora Safeway store.
The Police Department says Ping started to walk away from her husband and he grabbed her arm and started pulling her towards their vehicle. She fell to the ground and tried to get away. Hu then picked up his wife and carried her to the vehicle and placed her inside. At that point witnesses intervened and separated Hu and Ping until officers arrived.
Hu, who resides in Sonora, is charged with felony attempted kidnapping and misdemeanor domestic battery.
