Oakdale, CA — A 45-year-old Moccasin man was fatally injured in the head-on collision early Thursday morning on Hwy 108/120.

The Modesto CHP Office says 30-year-old James Wood of Sonora was driving east on Hwy 108/120 when he fell asleep and allowed his vehicle to cross the double yellow lines. Wood’s truck collided head-on with a Honda Accord driven by 27-year-old Joseph Lopez of Copperopolis. The 45-year-old from Moccasin, whose name has not been released by officials, was a passenger in Lopez’s vehicle.

Wood was not injured. Lopez received moderate injuries and was transported to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto. The accident occurred around 6:10am between Knights Ferry and Oakdale.
