Round Up A Success

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Despite the “cats and dogs” rainstorm the first Wednesday Wildcat Round Up proved to be a rousing success.

The brainchild of Sonora High Principal Todd Dearden, the Round Up was orchestrated to present incoming eighth grade students with a look at high school campus life.

380 students participated in the day long event. In the morning they underwent English and math tests. The eighth graders then had the opportunity to learn about class schedules from teachers and from students they received a summary of the myriad of campus activities.

Following a Bar-B-Que lunch the future Wildcats were off to the After Party for a dance, scavenger hunt and several mixers.

Then it was an appearance at Sonora In The Round where there were 15 minute choir, band and drama performances. To top the day off in the words of Dearden, “Our biology and chemistry teachers made root beer floats on some strange chemical device.”

Asked if Sonora High would repeat the Round Up next year Dearden stated, “Absolutely only next time we’ll ask for sun.”
