Valley Springs, CA — Those random shootings which started on December 16 have continued well into the New Year.

Saturday evening the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Department received 16 phone calls regarding what the Department believes were three to four incidents.

The first report was received at 5:44pm … the final report at 9:06pm. According to Sgt. Dave Seawell the shots have generally been fired in the area of Hwy 26-Vista Lago and the Hwy 26-Silver Rapids area.

To date there have been no reported injuries or damage reported related to the Saturday shootings.

Investigators from the Sheriff’s Department, the C.H.P., the F.B.I. and A.T.F. believe these shootings to be related to those that started last month.

The vehicle that has been used in a number of these shootings fails to dim the high beams when passing victims. Seawell suggests if you spot a vehicle that fails to dim its lights quickly move to the side of the roadway and lower your body out of sight.

Seawell also encourages anyone with pertinent information to contact either the Sheriff’s Department (209-754-6500) or the A.T.F. (1-800-ATF-GUNS) as soon as possible. Expediency will prove to be a great asset to investigators. Your call can remain anonymous.

The A.T.F. continues to offer up to a $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for these shootings.
