Bigelow Eyes Assembly Seat

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — A Madera County Supervisor is strongly considering a run for the newly drawn Assembly seat that will cover the mountain county region.

Republican Frank Bigelow has been traveling across the region, and earlier this week made a stop in Sonora to meet with community leaders.

Bigelow says he believes the legislature is failing to carry out the wishes of California residents. “Many (lawmakers) are not listening to their constituents, and it’s especially difficult for folks in the rural communities to have their voices represented.” says Bigelow. “We need to get involved and reengage with our government, whether it’s at the state, federal or local level.”

Bigelow praises Assembly member Kristin Olsen specifically as someone he believes has listened to the concerns of rural communities and fought on the region’s behalf. A central issue that Bigelow is upset about is the new SRA Fire Fee that will be placed on rural property owners in the state.

Bigelow is a lifelong Madera County resident, and has served on the Board of Supervisors since 1998. He began working at Ponderosa Telephone Company in 1973 and currently serves as Vice President. Bigelow is also a member of the CSAC Board of Directors.

Currently no other candidates have publically expressed an intention to run.

The newly drawn Assembly district, that includes both Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties, does not have an incumbent running, as Olsen plans to run for a seat in the Central Valley.
