Charges Remain For Marijuana Collective

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA– A Tuolumne County judge has denied a request to dismiss charges filed against four workers at a Tuolumne County marijuana collective.

Tuesday Judge Douglas Boyack denied the demurrer request made on behalf of James Willis Brisco, 68, of Sonora, Jason Brisco, 41, of Willow Springs, Renee Lynn Rivera, 40, of Willow Springs, and Rhett Schuller, 39, of Sonora.

The four were arrested when Foothill Care Collective was raided by authorities May 25th. The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office says the collective on Mono Way was allegedly selling marijuana for profit rather than collectively cultivating marijuana for medicinal purposes.

According to the Tuolumne County District Attorney’s Office, all plead not guilty. In denying the request, the case will now likely go to a jury trial.

The next step in the legal process is a preliminary hearing that has been scheduled for August 26th at 8:15 am. in Department Three of Tuolumne County Superior Court.

The defendants also requested a change of venue.

Last week Judge Boyack denied to dismiss the charges against workers from Today’s Health Collective. The marijuana collective off Via Este was also raided in May.
