Hunting Bill Sent To Brown

Sponsored by:

Sacramento, CA — The bill banning the use of dogs to hunt bears and bobcats now sits on the Governor’s desk.

SB 1221 has cleared both the Senate and Assembly. Governor Jerry Brown now has until the end of September to either sign or veto the legislation. The Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors has sent a letter in opposition, arguing that it would hurt the local economy and increase the local bear population.

Western states that have already passed a similar ban include Oregon, Washington, Wyoming, Colorado and Montana.
