National Forest Positions Filled

Sonora, CA — National Forest Supervisor Susan Skalski announces two Stanislaus National Forest positions are filled: Molly Fuller is the new Stanislaus Summit District Ranger, and Chris Schow will be the new Fire Management Officer on the Stanislaus National Forest.

Fuller served the last five years as a District Ranger in New Hampshire’s White Mountain National Forest. Skalski says, “We are excited to have her join us on the Stanislaus National Forest and in our community here.”

Fuller has worked for the Forest Service for over 30 years with previous assignments in California on the Mendocino, Plumas and Eldorado National Forests. Fuller graduated from California State University Chico with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and Range Science.

Fuller spent some time on the Stanislaus NF during the fire Siege of 1987. She says, “I am excited to come back and see the place in the absence of smoke, meet new people, take on new challenges and learn,” Fuller said. “I am a lifelong learner and pride myself in passion and devotion for the conservation mission of the Forest Service.”

Fuller is filling a vacancy left by Karen Caldwell who retired last year after serving 20 years as District Ranger. She is scheduled to report to the Stanislaus National Forest for duty on September 10.

Chris Schow is replacing Jerry McGowan who retired in January as the Fire Management Officer for the Forest. Schow has served as Fire Management and Aviation Officer since 2008 on Vermont’s Green Mountain and Finger Lakes National Forests.

Skalski says, “Chris has a wealth of experience in fire firefighting and fire management. As a former smokejumper, engine foreman, hotshot and helitack crewman he knows what it means to be on the front lines.”

Schow says, “I feel extremely lucky to have landed on the Stanislaus National Forest and look forward to being part of the highly respected fire program there.”

Schow graduated from the University of Montana with a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry. Schow has worked for the Forest Service for 26 years and is scheduled to report to the Stanislaus National Forest for duty on September 17.
