Kennedy Meadows On Agenda

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Tuolumne County is edging towards becoming the donee/owner of the 240 acre Kennedy Meadows property.

At Tuesday’s Supervisors meeting, the Board will vote on various proposals related to receiving the land from PG&E. The company is forced to give up the property as part of a bankruptcy settlement, and the non-profit Stewardship Council has been working to find the best public use.

Part of the agreement is the transferring of PG&E’s lease with Kennedy Meadows Resort and Pack Station over to the county. County documents show that Kennedy Meadows Resort’s annual rent is $15,000 a year.

If green-lighted on Tuesday, the agreement papers would go onto the Stewardship Council for approval and eventually to the California Public Utilities Committee.

Kennedy Meadows is the first property to go through the Stewardship Council’s property dissemination process. Talks and negotiations have taken place over the past several years.

Tuesday’s meeting begins at 9am.
