Streamlining Planning Commissions

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors appointed members to a taskforce that will look at ways to streamline government decisions.

The idea to create a “Planning Commissions and Committees Task Force” was spearheaded by District Three Supervisor Evan Royce. The group will hold open-to-the-public meetings, and come up with recommendations on how to scale back the various layers of government. Then in a few months they will present their findings to the Board of Supervisors.

Tuolumne County currently has the Jamestown Area Planning Commission, Columbia Area Planning Commission, Southern Tuolumne County Planning Commission, Twain Harte Design Review/Planning Advisory Committee, Tuolumne Design Review/Planning Advisory Committee, Phoenix Lake Country Club Estates Design Review Committee and the Muller Subdivision Design Review Committee.

Supervisor Royce was selected to represent the Board of Supervisors on the task force. Robert Steele will represent the Tuolumne County Planning Commissioners. He was selected over the other applicant that applied, John LaTorre. Representing the Area Planning Commissioners will be L. Phillip Reese, who was selected over candidate Charlotte Hague. Representing the Design Review Committees, Richard Cavil was selected over James Nuzum. Members of the Tuolumne County Building Industry and Tuolumne County Business Council were also invited to participate. Those members will be Mark Banks and Ron Kopf.

The selections were all unanimous votes by the Board of Supervisors.
