Electronic Medical Records For SRMC

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA – Sonora Regional Medical Center launched an electronic medical record system, called Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE). It was launched on Tuesday, after months of preparation and training. The program now allows physicians and other health care providers to input their orders directly into the computer system rather than writing them down on paper.

All 17 Adventist Health hospitals are implementing CPOE. SRMC says the current upgrades add functionality that improve quality, safety, efficiency, and care coordination and ensure privacy and security protections for personal health information.

According to the SRMC press release, “The many advantages of CPOE include improved turnaround time for orders and test results, reduced delays caused by missing charts, increased use of best practices for various common conditions, and reduced patient harm by avoiding medication errors and medical mistakes caused by illegible handwriting.”

Adventist Health hospitals, including Sonora Regional Medical Center, are among the 41 percent of facilities in the nation expected to be ready to demonstrate that they comply with government standards for using electronic health records.
