Jail Time After Prison

Sonora, CA — A Jamestown man who was released from prison has been transferred to Tuolumne County Jail to answer for charges separate from his prison sentence for a local robbery.

In 2008 Larry DeRossette Jr. was shot three times by CHP Officer Eli Dillon while robbing the Whistle Stop Tesoro Gas Station in Jamestown. He was arrested and plead guilty to second degree robbery. Officer Dillon was cleared of any wrongdoing in regards to the shooting.

Tuolumne County Sheriff’s office spokesperson Sgt. James Oliver says warrants for DeRossette’s arrest were issued in 2008 before the robbery. The charges from 2008 involve DeRossette forging and cashing checks, committing burglary, and grand theft.

Fourty-five year-old DeRossette Jr. has served four years and nine months of his six year and four month prison sentence for the robbery. He also owes $838.07 to Tesoro Corp.
