Snow Bounty Extends Winter Recreation At Yosemite

Sponsored by:

Yosemite, CA – Ski and snowshoe enthusiast will get another couple of weeks to frolic in the snow at Yosemite National Park.

The winter recreation season has been extended in select areas thanks to an abundance of snow. Several blizzards this winter pounded the region allowing the area surrounding Glacier Point Road to remain open for two weeks longer than usual. Instead of the typical closure to winter visitors by the end of March, park rangers relay a new date of April 14th.

Other areas of the park, however, will still close this weekend. They include the Yosemite Ski and Snowboard Area, including the Nordic Center and all other facilities, which are slated to close for the winter season on Sunday, March 31.

Of note Dodge Ridge, Bear Valley and Kirkwood ski resorts have all extended their season through April 21st, as well. As reported here, heavy rains last year caused Dodge Ridge to close only five days into the month of April.
