Update: Friday School Cancellations And Power Outages

Update at 6 p.m.: PG&E is reporting new outages resulting from the ongoing storm system passing through the Mother Lode. In Tuolumne County, there is a new power outage impacting 755 customers in the Groveland and Buck Meadows areas. A new outage in the Mi-Wuk Village area has 186 in the dark and 40 in Tuolumne. There remain 106 customers in the Cold Springs along with multiple scattered small outages around Twain Harte.

In Calaveras County, crews are making headway on outages in the Arnold areas. Originally there were 669 customers without power that numbers has dropped to about 80. However, there are still 111 in the Camp Connell area along Highway 4 without power. There also remain more than 100 without electricity in the areas of Jesus Maria, Railroad Flat and West Point.

The utility reports crews will continue to work overnight to restore power.

Update at 3:15 p.m.: PG&E crews have made progress on outages in Tuolumne County,. The electricity has been restored to over 120 in the Sonora area and out of 40 in the Phoenix Lake region there are only 19 remaining without lights. The utility reported equipment issues as the cause for those outages. There remains about 113 without lights in the Groveland area with the company posting an 8 p.m. estimated restoration time. Additionally, there are multiple scattered small outages around Twain Harte.

In Calaveras County, crews are also making headway on outages in the Dorrington, Camp Connell and Arnold areas. The latter has the largest outage, which was 669 customers, but that number has dropped to 521. However, there are still about 950 in that area, along Highway 4, without power due to some new smaller scattered outages cropping up. There also remains nearly 200 without electricity in the areas of Jesus Maria, Railroad Flat, Mountain Ranch and West Point.

Update at 1:50 p.m.:  There are many PG&E power outages resulting from the ongoing storm system passing through the Mother Lode.

The latest is in the Arnold, Dorrington and Camp Connell areas of Calaveras County that is impacting nearly 1,000 customers, stretching along Highway 4. There are nearly 200 without power due to scattered outages in the areas of Jesus Maria, Railroad Flat, Mountain Ranch and West Point, as well.

In Tuolumne County, there is a new outage in Cold Springs affecting 106 customers. The Sonora area has over 120 without electricity and there are around 40 in the Phoenix Lake region. The utility gives an estimated restoration time of around 4:30 p.m. for most of those impacted and blames equipment issues for sparking the outages. There are also multiple scattered outages around Twain Harte.

The company has not posted estimated repair times or causes for the rest of the outages.

Update at 10:15am: Continue to check the school delay section throughout today. The Summerville Union High School District has announced it will dismiss students early due to snow. There are also storm related library branch closures. Click here to view the latest.

Original story posted at 6am: Sonora, CA —  There are a mix of school delays and cancellations on this Friday due to snow and icy conditions in some areas, and flooding in others.

In the Sonora area, there are over 120 PG&E customers without electricity, an additional 40 in the Phoenix Lake region, and multiple scattered outages around Twain Harte. There are also around 150 without power in the greater Groveland area. In Calaveras County, there are hundreds without power due to scattered outages around Jesus Maria, Railroad Flat and Mountain Ranch. West Point also has around 60 customers without electricity. PG&E hopes to have the majority of the customers restored by later today.
