One Warming Station Remains Open In Tuolumne County
Sonora, CA — A warming station in Sonora is now closed, while one in the high country near Mi Wuk Village is open.
The station at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Sonora closed at 8am this morning, and the new one at the Word of Life Church on Highway 108 in Mi Wuk Village opened at four o’clock yesterday afternoon.
Tuolumne County Office of Emergency Services Coordinator Liz Peterson relays, “It will remain open for the foreseeable future (center in Mi Wuk Village). We will be working with PG&E to coordinate and make sure that it is open as long as power is out for folks.”
Food and water are available, and there is space for people to sleep.
Pets are not allowed at the shelter, but Tuolumne County Animal Control is able to shelter and care for pets belonging to individuals staying at the warming shelter. The animals can be brought to its facility at 10040 Victoria Way in Jamestown during operating hours of 9am-4pm (M-F).
