Update at 5:10 p.m.: PG&E is now reporting a 5 a.m. restoration time for the remaining 137 customers in the Mountain Ranch area where a pickup smashed into a power pole bringing down live lines on Railroad Flat Road. More details surrounding the crash and power outage are below.

Update at 4:35 p.m.: PG&E now reports that the original number of 710 customers impacted by the crash that sparked a power outage in the Mountain Ranch area has been redueced to 166. The restoration time is still in the 5 o’clock hour

Update at 3:30 p.m.: PG&E has pushed back the restoration time to 5 p.n. for 710 customers in the Rail Road Flat area of Calaveras County without electricity due to the crash that brought down live power lines across Railroad Flat Road. Update at 3:05 p.m.: The CHP reports that Swiss Ranch Road has been reopened to traffic, but Railroad Flat Road remains closed due to live downed power lines across both lanes. Update at 2:30 p.m.: The CHP reports that a stretch of both Railroad Flat and Swiss Ranch roads are closed due to the downed power lines across the roadway. A PG&E crews is heading to the scene to make repairs, but the company notes its eta is about 45 minutes. The CHP has upgraded the injuries in the rollover crash of a Dodge Dakota pickup into a power pole to minor from moderate. Original post at 2 p.m.: Mountain Ranch, CA — The CHP is on the scene of a solo-vehicle crash that brought down live power lines in the area of Railroad Flat Road near Swiss Ranch Road in the Mountain Ranch area.

A vehicle went off the roadway and overturned several times down an embankment until it smashed into a power pole. The live lines are across both lanes of traffic blocking the roadway. Motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible. The CHP reports moderate injuries in the collision with a ground ambulance being called to the scene.

Additionally, PG&E is reporting that 710 customers in that area along Railroad Flat and Jesus Maria roads are without power. The utility estimates a restoration time of 3:30 p.m.

The original call involved a report of a possible vegetation fire being sparked by the down lines, but once crews arrived on scene they found no fire.
