Update: Vehicle VS. Bicycle Crash Turns Deadly
Update at 7:15 p.m.: Highway 49 has reopened to traffic after a deadly vehicle versus bicycle crash shut the roadway down for nearly two hours. Additional information on the fatal collision can be viewed below.
Update at 6:45 p.m.: The CHP reports that the vehicle versus bicycle crash on Highway 49 has resulted in a fatality. No name is being released pending notification of family. The roadway remains closed between Parrotts Ferry Road and Jack Page Road as investigators survey the scene. The CHP estimates that roadway will reopen in the seven o’clock hour.
Original post at 6 p.m.: Sonora, CA — Emergency crews are responding to a vehicle versus bicycle crash in Sonora.
The two collided between the Pedro Y and Columbia Way in Sonora. The CHP reports that CPR is in progress. Traffic is getting backed up as Highway 49 is shut down between Parrotts Ferry Road and Jack Page Road. Officers are turning traffic around in both direction.
