Update: 40-Percent Containment On Parrotts Fire
Update at 5:45pm:Â CAL Fire spokesperson Emily Kilgore says the Parrotts Fire in Calaveras County is estimated to be 136 acres this evening, and the containment is 40-percent. Some very positive news she shares is that the forward rate of spread has been stopped. Crews will remain busy overnight further building and strengthening containment lines, and a fresh crew of firefighters will take over in the morning.
Update at 1:50pm:Â Air and ground resources are continuing to make progress helping to knock down the Parrotts Fire in Calaveras County. CAL Fire spokesperson Emily Kilgore reports that the size remains around 135 acres and there is five-percent containment. Nothing has changed in regards to evacuation advisories.
An advisory remains in place for the Live Oak Subdivision, all the way to Parrotts Ferry Road, Green Meadow, Coyote Creek Ansil Davis and Monge Ranch Road. The fire is burning near Camp Nine Road approximately four mile from Parrotts Ferry Road.
Update at 11:10am:Â CAL Fire spokesperson Emily Kilgore reports that the Parrotts Fire in Calaveras County is 135 acres. Air resources have been aggressively putting down retardant lines, and ground resources are also actively working to cut containment lines. The positive news is that the fire has been holding at 135 acres. While the fire growth has slowed, it is officially considered five percent contained, as stronger lines need to be constructed. Increasing temperatures this afternoon could create challenges.
The earlier evacuation advisory remains in place for the Live Oak Subdivision, all the way to Parrotts Ferry Road, Green Meadow, Coyote Creek Ansil Davis and Monge Ranch Road. An evacuation shelter is open at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Sonora. Large animals are being accepted at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds.
Update at 9:20am: CAL Fire now reports the Parrotts Fire is up to 125 acres. The earlier evacuation advisories remain in place for parts of the Douglas Flat/Vallecito area. The advisory is for the Live Oak Subdivision, all the way to Parrotts Ferry Road, Green Meadow, Coyote Creek Ansil Davis and Monge Ranch Road.

Update at 8:20am:Â Air and ground resources continue to battle the Parrotts Fire in Calaveras County.
Additional resources have been ordered and are arriving on scene. CAL Fire is now estimating the size to be around 100 acres. It is burning near Camp Nine Road approximately four miles from the Parrotts Ferry Road intersection. It has been moving in a northerly direction toward Highway 4. There are some powerlines in the area that are threatened.
The earlier advisory evacuation notices remain in effect for the Live Oak Subdivision, all the way to Parrotts Ferry Road, Green Meadow, Coyote Creek Ansil Davis and Monge Ranch Road.
Those evacuated may go to the evacuation shelter that was set up yesterday at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Sonora for those displaced by the Donnell Fire.
Original story posted at 6:50am: Calaveras County, CA — Responders are on the scene of an early morning 70 acre vegetation fire that has ignited in the area of Parrotts Ferry Road and Camp Nine Road in Calaveras County.
It is burning in heavy brush. A heavy amount of resources have been requested to the area, so be prepared for activity.
The Calaveras County Office of Emergency Services has issued an advisory evacuation notice for the Live Oak Subdivision, all the way to Parrotts Ferry Road, Green Meadow, Coyote Creek Ansil Davis and Monge Ranch Road.
