Riot At Sierra Conservation Center

Jamestown, CA — A large scale riot this morning at the Sierra Conservation Center in Jamestown sent six prisoners to the hospital.

The brawl, involving over 100 inmates, broke out around 10:15 a.m. in Facility A, according to prison officials, who add that none of the injuries were life-threatening although some prisoners suffered from stab wounds.

The mayhem ended after warning shots rang out from a high tower by an officer armed with a rifle. Additionally, rubber bullets and pepper spray grenades were used to breakup the uproar. No officers were injured in the fighting.

Searches were being conducted on the block, which has been put on a modifided program. All visiting, both general and family, has been canceled for Facility A through the weekend.
