Update: High Country Power Outage Continues
Update at 5:15 p.m.: PG&E crews have made huge progress on several power outages in the high country of Tuolumne County including one that has lasted nearly two days.
The latest outage this afternoon that impacts 503 customers stretching from Pineceast and Strawberry out along Dodge Ridge Road has dropped to 18 customers. The estimated repair time is 7 p.m.
The remaining 210 customers of a large equipment failure outage that initiall impacted 1,704 due to a lightning strike Tuesday night that damaged equipment at the Spring Gap substation above Pinecrest hope to have their power restored within the hour. It spans along Highway 108, Pinecrest Lake and Dodge Ridge Road to Spring Gap and Beardsley Reservoir roads.
Update at 4 p.m.: PG&E is reporting a new power outage in the high country area of Tuolumne County where some customers have already been dealing with a nearly two day outage. Over 500 customers are involved in this new outage stretching from Pineceast and Strawberry along Dodge Ridge Road to the east. The estimated repair time is 7 p.m. Details on two other outages in the same area are below.
Update at 3:30 p.m.: The rollercoaster ride continues for PG&E customers in the high country of Tuolumne County lasting nearly two days. A new outage this afternoon that initially impacted 1,171 customers has dropped to 686. Crews are still working to determine a cause and restore the power to those along Highway 108 spanning from below Cold Springs to just south of Pinecrest. The utility has posted a 5:30 p.m. estimated repair time.

At 2 p.m. the electricity went out for 1,171 customers in the Cold Springs, Pinecrest and Strawberry areas. Crews are assessing the situation and a 5:30 p.m. restoration time has been posted. Original post at 12:50 p.m.: Tuolumne County, CA — A major power outage continues in the high country today.
While the lights have been restored to 372 of the original 1,704 PG&E customers without power another 1,332 still remain without electricity. Their lights went out Tuesday night when a lightning strike damaged equipment at the Spring Gap substation above Pinecrest. Those impacted are in the Cold Springs, Pinecrest and Strawberry areas.
PG&E spokesperson Brandi Merlo has detailed that mobile generators are going to be installed to bypass the system’s equipment that is being repaired. The utility had hoped the ligths would go back on around nine this morning. However, the utility has pushed that time back to 1 p.m. as Merlo indicates the process to switch over to the generators takes some time.
