Update at 1:45 p.m.:  The lights are back on at Belleview Elementary. School officials tell Clarke Broadcasting that classes will resume tomorrow (Thursday, Sept. 21) beginning at 8:15 a.m. and running through 1 p.m. The lights went out just before 6:30 a.m. forcing administrators to shut down the school. A PG&E crew has been working since then to restore the power. The company has not posted a cause, but school officials say they were told a transformer sparked the outage. (For more details on the outage see below)

Update at 8:05am: Belleview Elementary officials report that PG&E will need additional time today to restore the school’s power, so classes are cancelled for today. The school hopes to be back in session on Thursday.

Original story posted at 628am: Tuolumne County, CA — Belleview Elementary School is experiencing a power outage and will start classes at least two hours late this morning.

Belleview officials are still looking into the situation, according to the school, and we’ll pass along additional details if anything changes.
