Update: Sonora Bus Crash Has CHP Searching For Hit And Run Suspect

Update at 5 p.m.: The CHP is asking for the public’s help to find a vehicle involved in a hit and run bus crash on Highway 49.  The CHP reports a bus with four students and a driver was rear ended at the Parrotts Ferry Road Intersection just before 3:30 p.m. None of the students or the driver were injured. The vehicle that left the scene is believed to be a white compact car, possibly a Dodge Neon, according to the CHP. Witnesses report the car did a U-turn and took off but left behind a section of its front bumper on the roadway. Anyone with information is asked to call the CHP Sonora Unit at 209-984-3944.

Update at 4:30 p.m.: The CHP reports none of the students or the driver were injured in the hit and run bus crash on Highway 49 at the Parrotts Ferry Road intersection. Officers are searching for the vehicle that rear ended the bus. It is believed to be a white compact car, possibly a Dodge Neon, according to the CHP, which adds that it made a U-turn and took off.  Part of the vehicles front bumper was ripped off in the wreck. Highway 49 is clear and traffic is moving freely once again.

Original post at 4:10 p.m.: Sonora, CA — The CHP is on the scene of a hit and run crash on Highway 49 in the Sonora area.

The CHP reports a bus with four students and a driver was rear ended at the Parrotts Ferry Road intersection. There is no word on injuries but an ambulance has been called to the scene. The vehicle that left the scene is believed to be a white compact car, possibly a Dodge Neon, according to the CHP, which adds that it made a U-turn and took off. The car did lose part of its front bumper on the roadway.

Traffic is slow and go in the area as the bus is partially in the roadway. We will bring you more details as soon as they come into the newsroom.
