Caltrans Plans Week of March 5

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Weather-permitting, as many crews will be heading back to work zones they were busy at last week, with a few exceptions, look for traffic impacts in many familiar places.

One exception is a cone zone planned along Highway 49 at Carson Hill, where Monday-planned guardrail repairs will necessitate one-way traffic controls probably yielding at least ten-minute delays from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Similar travel impacts are likely, too, on Highway 49 both Wednesday and Thursday between Russells Road and High School Street from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. during utility work.

Also in Calaveras County, tree work on Highway 4 continues every weekday, bringing more ten-minute waits at points between Batten Road in Vallecito and Meko Drive in Camp Connell from 6:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.

Highway 26 Hot Spots

Along Highway 26 expect more ten-minute interruptions every weekday between Gill Haven Drive and east of Alabama Hill while slope repair and clearing continues from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. Similar delays are in the works between Highway 49 in Mokelumne Hill and the Calaveras/Amador County line as tree crews return from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Keep in mind that a section of Highway 26 remains closed — probably until early April — between Higdon Road and the North Fork Mokelumne River Bridge near West Point for road repairs due to heavy storm damage. Detour delays of up to an hour are probable while using the alternate routes: eastbound, it is northbound Highway 49 to eastbound Highway 88; westbound, the passage is Highway 88 to southbound Highway 49 onto Highway 26.

Tuolumne County Travel Delays

Although Highway 120 James E. Roberts Bridge at Lake Don Pedro overnight closures are slated Sunday through Thursday nights at 5 p.m., with re-openings at 7 a.m. each following morning, weekend weather impacts may well force the work crews to skip plans for Sunday night. Plan for 20-minute travel impacts whenever the overnight detour signs are in place. Daily from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. the bridge remains under one-way traffic control, which typically slows traffic for ten minutes at a time.

Ten-minute delays are in store every weekday along Highway 120 between Forest-Packard Canyon Road and the South Fork Tuolumne River Bridge, as weather permits, where slope repairs and cleaning continue from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
