Caltrans Thanksgiving Week Road Work Roundup

Sonora, CA — Mother Lode motorists can expect delays along several area highways next week but smooth sailing for the end of the week Thanksgiving holiday.

In Tuolumne County along Highway 120 there will be several stretches of road construction. On the highway between Old Priest Grade to Evergreen Road crews will be trimming trees. One-way traffic control will be in effect Monday through Tuesday from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. creating up to ten minute delays for travelers.

The highway’s closure remains in place in the overnight hours for work on the James E. Roberts Bridge at Lake Don Pedro, Sunday through Wednesday,  holding up motorists for about 15-minutes from 5 p.m. until 7 a.m. One-way traffic control will be in place during the daytime.

Utility work will bring 10 minute delays for travels on the highway from 7:30 a.m. to noon with one-way traffic control at Simms Road on Wednesday.

Flaggers will be conducting one-way traffic control on Highway 108 from Lyons Dam Road to east of Strawberry for tree work running Monday and Tuesday from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Highway 49/Washington Street in Sonora will be shut down from Green to Cowan streets for the 33rd Christmas Parade from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday. Drivers can expect up to fifteen minute waits along the route.

Calaveras Cone Zones

Next week motorists will face up to fifteen minutes delays on Highway 4 in Calaveras County. There will be one-way traffic control along various locations. Caltrans has provided this schedule:

  • One-way traffic control on eastbound and westbound SR-4 from Stanislaus/Calaveras County line to SR-49/Angels Camp for paving operations beginning Monday, November 21, 2016, through Tuesday, November 22, 2016, from 7:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
  • One-way traffic control on eastbound and westbound SR-4 from Upper Moran Road to Big Trees Park Entrance for utility work on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
  • One-way traffic control on eastbound and westbound SR-4 from Upper Moran Road to Black Springs Road for tree work beginning Monday, November 21, 2016, through Tuesday, November 22, 2016, from 6:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.

Utility work on the highway between Lakemont Drive and Henry Street will continue to slow traffic with about a five minute wait daily Monday to Wednesday from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Striping operations will require flaggers directing traffic on Highway 12 at Chestnut Street Tuesday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Paving work on Highway 26 will bring up to ten minute delays for drivers from Nove Way to Highway 12 in Valley Springs Monday through Wednesday from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m.

The same work will create short stoppages for motorists on Highway 49 between Main Street in San Andreas to Highway 12 Monday and Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

In celebration of the Thanksgiving holiday in downtown Angels Camp on Saturday Highway 49 will be shut down for the annual Angels Camp Holiday Parade. The roadway will be closed between Angels Creek to Murphys Grade Road from 4:30 pm. to 7 p.m. with ten minute delays.

Caltrans reports that no work will be done Thursday and Friday in celebrations of the Thanksgiving holiday.
