Ribbon Cutting For Juvenile Hall Postponed

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Citing heavy rainfall over recent weeks, and the need to receive back ordered items, a ribbon cutting ceremony for Tuolumne County’s new Juvenile Detention Facility has been postponed by a couple months.

The ceremony was scheduled to be this Friday, but it will now occur during the first week of January. At this week’s Board of Supervisors meeting County Administrator Craig Pedro stated, “You get one chance to make a good first impression, and we want to do that properly, so we’ll postpone it.”

It is the first major project at the Tuolumne County Law and Justice Center site off Old Wards Ferry Road. The county received $16-million in state funding to help build the new juvenile detention facility, at 12784 Justice Center Drive.
