T.U.D. Set To Award Contract For Quartz-Stent Project
Sonora, CA — The T.U.D. Board of Directors will vote on Tuesday whether to approve a $1-million contract to extend water service to over 30 Jamestown homes that have experienced well failures.
Many of the homeowners in the Stent and Quartz areas are participating the county’s well assistance program, which will eventually expire. Funding for the Quartz-Stent Water Main Extension Project will come from the State of California’s Water Resources Control Board. It includes installing 12,000 linear ft. of water main and has the potential to connect over 100 properties. Mozingo Construction Inc. submitted the lowest bid 1,034,824, which is below T.U.D.’s internal estimate of $1.25-million. The T.U.D. Board will vote whether to award the contract.
In addition, in relation to the extensive Phoenix Lake Preservation and Restoration Project, the Board will vote whether to approve an agreement with the Cedar Ridge Apple Ranch (Indigeny Reserve) for the company to take sediment generated during the dredging of Phoenix Lake. The contract, up to $350,000, includes taking up to 400,000 cubic yards.
