Update at 1:20 p.m.: Highway 49 near Center Street in Mokelumne Hill has reopened after a wreck involving a big rig truck and an SUV spilled 12 tons of asphalt onto the roadway. The CHP reports Jeremy Sullivan, 40, from Sacramento was driving a Peterbilt semi and crossed the double yellow-lines smashing into a Toyota Corolla driven by Kevin Teves, 25, from Sutter Creek. The truck went off the roadway up an embankment and a trailer carrying the asphalt overturned on the roadway. The highway was closed for an hour and then officers directed one-lane traffic control until 1 p.m. Both drivers suffered minor injuries.

Update at 10:25am: There is now one-way traffic control on Highway 49 near Center Street. Expect delays throughout the morning.

The CHP reports that a big rig truck carrying asphalt has collided with a Toyota Tercel. Some asphalt has reportedly dumped onto the highway, according to the CHP, and Caltrans has been notified of the situation.
