Caltrans Plans, Week Of Oct. 16

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA – Caltrans crews plan more pre-winter spruce up chores along the Mother Lode highways this week, with a few cones zones planned as early as Sunday, weather-permitting.

Striping operations will bring 15-minute waits to plan for, Monday through Thursday, both along Highway 108/49 between Chicken Ranch Road and Sonora Creek Bridge — and along Highway 49 from the Mariposa/Toulumne County line to Moccasin. Hours for both are scheduled as from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Hot spots on Highway 108 this week include 15-minute traffic stack ups Monday through Thursday while striping is underway between Soulsbyville and Kennedy Meadows roads, under a moving closure, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Beginning Sunday and lasting through Saturday, tree crews will contribute to ten-minute waits between Chief Fuller Way and Kennedy Meadows from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. Momentary travel impacts are possible between North Tuolumne and Sugar Pine roads from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. during drainage cleaning and inspection activities.

Along Highway 120, ten-minute travel stops continue Sunday through Saturday while tree work is addressed between Old Priest Grade Road and the West Boundary Yosemite National Park entrance from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. Anticipate momentary delays every weekday while drainage repairs are being made during those same hours between the Tenaya School entrance and White Gulch Road. Too, remember that nightly Sunday-through-Thursday-night closure at the James E Roberts Bridge at Lake Don Pedro from 5 p.m. until 7 a.m. as bridge deck replacement continues. All other times expect ten-minute delays there, around-the-clock.

Highway 49 drainage work is scheduled this week in Tuolumne County as well. Every weekday crews will be working between Highway 120 South and Bear Valley Road from 7:30 a.m. until 4 p.m., bringing the potential for a few spells of slowed traffic. Friday only, they will also be focusing between Columbia Way and Parrots Ferry Road from 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., which might set travelers back ten minutes at a time.

Calaveras Cone Zones

More paving on Highway 4 is planned every weekday between Stanislaus/Calaveras County line and Highway 49 in Angels Camp from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m., wreaking traffic delays of at least ten minutes. Similar motorist impacts are likely while more pavement work is underway Dorrington Station and Cabbage Patch Log Road from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Highway 4 tree work this week will also bring ten-minute interruptions: between Northwood Drive and Tipton House Road from 6 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily; also between Upper Moran Road and the Big Trees State Park entrance from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. A utility crew, onscene between Lakemont Drive and Henry Street/Lilac Street, may also slow traffic a bit from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily.

On Highway 12, overnight striping begins Sunday and runs through Saturday morning from 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. between the San Joaquin/Calaveras County line and Highway 49 as well as between Shelton Road and Highway 49, Mokelumne Hill, which may set motorists back a few minutes.

Highway 26 cone zones for utility work this week run every weekday between Silver Rapids and Quail Oaks roads as well as between Nove Way and Highway 12 from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m., generating minor delays. Expect ten-minute waits daily while drainage work is underway between Higdon Road and the Mokelumne River Bridge from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Utility crews, which have become a local fixture over the past several weeks in San Andreas along Highway 49, are back every weekday between Main Street and Pool Station Road, bringing brief travel hiccups from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m.
