Update: Fire Near Cascade Creek Campground

Update posted at 11:02am: Forest Service Spokesperson Clare Long says a vegetation fire near the Cascade Creek Campground has been controlled at two acres. It is on the northwest side of the road, across from the campground. No structures are threatened and several resources are starting to be released from the incident. Investigators are trying to find out what ignited the fire.

Original story posted at 10:03am: Tuolumne County, CA — There is a vegetation fire burning in the Stanislaus National Forest off Highway 108 in vicinity of the Cascade Creek Campground.

Several fire resources from around the region are responding to the incident, including Forest Service, CAL Fire and local agencies. The fire is estimated to be an acre in size and there is a moderate rate of spread. There are currently six engines and a helicopter assigned to the incident. The fire is in the Summit Ranger District.
