Sonora City Council Will Meet Tuesday
Sonora, CA — Due to the Labor Day holiday, the Sonora City Council is postponing its meeting by one day this week.
The Council is set to receive an update on the Tree Mortality Aid Program from Glenn Gotschall of the Highway 108 FireSafe Council. The city will also discuss sending a representative and having a voting delegate at an upcoming League of California Cities Conference next month in Long Beach. In addition, the city will talk about whether to send Mayor Connie Williams to a Silicon Valley Marijuana Awareness Conference to be held later this week in Santa Clara. As California voters will be asked this November whether to legalize the drug for recreational use, the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office is holding a public symposium to discuss the issue. The city will also vote on closing Washington Street for a brief period on September 30 for the Sonora High Homecoming Parade. Prior to the 5pm open session meeting, the council will also meet in closed session to talk about ongoing negotiations related to the property at the intersection of Mono Way and Greenley Road.
