Update: Fatal Crash Victim In Tuolumne County ID’d

Update 1:30 p.m.: The CHP has identified a Jamestown man killed in a solo vehicle crash on Algerine Road near the intersection of Twist Road south of the Stent cut off. 43-year-old Michael Solus of Jamestown was pronounced dead at the scene. The CHP reports Solus was driving a 2001 Chevy pickup southbound on Algerine Road and for unknown reasons drifted to the left smashing into the Curtis Creek Bridge cement abutment. The impact from the crash crumpled the front of the truck and caused major injuries to Solus.

Update at 7 a.m.: The CHP reports the wreckage has been cleared from the Curtis Creek Bridge on Algerine Road. The roadway was shut down for nearly three hours after a solo vehicle crashed into the cement bridge resulting in one fatality. That person has not yet been identified by the CHP.

Original post at 5:25 a.m.: Tuolumne County, CA — A tragic story this morning as emergency crew remain on the scene of a fatal accident in the Jamestown area.

The CHP reports one person has been declared dead at the scene.  The solo vehicle crash happened just after 4:30 this morning on Algerine Road near the intersection of Twist Road south of the Stent cut off.  One person was pinned in the vehicle after it T-boned into the cement on the north side of the Curtis Creek Bridge.  The wreckage has completely blocked the bridge as tow crews work to remove the debris.

There is no word on how many individuals were involved in the accident or possible injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
