“Songbird Saturday” Awards Local Songwriters & Musicians

Sponsored by:

This Saturday May 12th 2016, the 2nd Saturday Art Night committee will present their second “Songbird Saturday”at Stage 3 Theater. It is part of the occasional “After 8” events, which follows 2nd Saturday Art Night.

Katie Dunn and Laurie Lehman of the Sonora Chamber of Commerce and Tim McCaffrey of the Little Fuller Band were Friday’s KVML “Newsmakers of the Day”.

“We’re so excited about this night,” said Dunn. “We’re hosting an impressive singer-songwriters event that will feature four excellent regional musicians.”

The evening is called “Songbird Saturday,” and is a ticketed event with limited seating.

During the performance, which is hosted by McCaffrey, four musicians will each share his or her original songs with others accompanying. Each artist will have a chance to talk a bit about what inspires his or her music.

The guest musicians include McCaffrey, Brian DeMassey of Thick Soup, Steve Levine and Jill Warren.

The Mountain Performers Fund will include seven $300 mini-grants awarded to musicians who applied earlier this year. Each of the winners will each be announced tomorrow night.

Tickets are $20 in advance. They are available at Stage 3’s box office, Funky Junk Downtown, SNAC in Murphys and at Mountain Bookshop in the Sonora Junction Shopping Center. Any unsold tickets will be available that evening for $25.

Hors d’oeuvres will be served with a No-Host Wine/Beer bar. Plus, there will be a raffle for deluxe gift baskets.

The proceeds go to benefit the 2nd Saturday Art Night’s “Mountain Performers’ Fund,” and future After 8 events.
